1. Introduction

Displace Technologies, LLC ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Displace Technologies. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, its associated subdomains, and the Displace CLI/MCP binary (collectively, our "Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information from you when you register on our site, place an order, subscribe to our service, or fill out a form. When registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, or other details to help you with your experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
  • To improve our website in order to better serve you.
  • To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests.
  • To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.
  • To quickly process your transactions.
  • To send periodic emails regarding your order or other products and services.

4. CLI & MCP Server Telemetry

The Displace CLI and MCP server include an opt-in telemetry feature. Telemetry is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by the user.

What we collect (when opted in)

  • Tool usage counts (e.g., how many times displace_deploy is invoked)
  • Error rates and error categories (not error messages or stack traces)
  • CLI/MCP version and operating system type
  • License tier (Community, Starter, Professional, or Founder)

What we never collect

  • Cloud provider credentials, API keys, or secrets
  • Kubeconfig contents or cluster connection details
  • Source code, file paths, or project contents
  • Kubernetes resource names, namespaces, or configurations
  • IP addresses, hostnames, or network topology
  • Any data from your clusters (logs, metrics, pod details)
  • Generated manifests, Helm charts, or Terraform configs

Data retention

Anonymized telemetry data is retained for a maximum of 90 days and is used solely for product improvement. Telemetry data is aggregated and cannot be traced back to individual users or infrastructure.

Opting out

You can disable telemetry at any time by running:

displace telemetry off

You can check your current telemetry status with displace telemetry status and re-enable it with displace telemetry on.

5. License Validation

When a license key is configured, the Displace binary periodically contacts api.displace.tech to validate your license and sync guardrail rules. This communication includes only your license key and a request for rule updates. License validation responses are cached locally for 24 hours to minimize network requests.

6. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

7. Cookies

We do not use persistent tracking cookies. We may use session cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart, understand and save your preferences for future visits, and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction.
